Administrative Department

James Leskar is the General Manager of Michael's Harley-Davidson. Jim's love of Harley-Davidson® motorcycles began at the age of twelve when he spent most of his time tinkering in his Dad's salvage yard in Minnesota and rode around on a Harley® "Hummer". When his big brother, Michael, moved to California in 1972 and opened a little chopper shop, Jim soon followed. Jumping on his '56 Panhead, he rode all the way to Santa Rosa. He started out working as a Sportster® XL engine builder and Parts & Accessories salesman at Michael's Cycle Shop. In the fall of 1980, Jim was the victim of a hit and run motorcycle accident which left him seriously disabled. After a year in the hospital and a lengthy rehabilitation, Jim faced the fact that his Harley days were over. He enrolled in college, trained in electronics, and was employed as a technician at Hewlett-Packard, where he worked for eight years. In the meantime, Michael had qualified his shop for dealership status, and opened Michael's Harley-Davidson, Inc. In March of 1991, Jim's life took another unexpected turn. Michael suffered a debilitating motorcycle accident which rendered him unable to manage the business. Based on a long-standing agreement between them, Jim was designated to take over the reins. Without prior experience in business management and little contact with the world of motorcycles for six years, Jim was transplanted into an unfamiliar position. Aware that riding would be a necessary requirement of his new role as a Harley-Davidson Dealer Principal, Jim began to reacquaint himself with the art of motorcycling. Today, it has become his primary mode of transportation. Jim's dedication and commitment to uphold the legacy of his brother's success have been powerful learning tools for him. Jim also credits his family, friends, and loyal employees for all their support in pushing Michael's Harley-Davidson beyond "just another Harley store" to being an outstanding business! Jim still manages his brother's estate today and visits with him often. With customer satisfaction being his top priority, Jim continues his quest to foster the growth and continued excellence of Michael's Harley-Davidson.
Dan Thielen

As the Operations Manager @ Michael's Harley Davidson for the past 7 years, Dan has not only steered our course but done so with passion, humor and quiet a bit of multi-tasking. Dan oversees the daily business operations, as well as accounting, marketing, human resources & customer service. Flexibility and a sense of humor are a must for keeping this fast paced business moving forward.

Roger Wiese

Roger works in the accounting department @ MHD as an Accountant/Benefits Manager. Roger joined our family @ Michael’s Harley-Davidson as a temporary, P/T employee … 7 years ago. (I think he likes his job). Roger has been in the accounting field, associated with banking and various law firms, since the wheel was invented, so he knows his way around a calculator. Since having Roger on our team we now know the meaning of the term “still waters run deep”. What an asset he is to our team.

Karen Fussell

Karen also came to Michael's Harley-Davidson as a temporary employee… who is still here (are ya seeing a pattern there??) It did not take long for us to see her value. If you look up “Hardest Working Bookkeeper In The Land”, you will see Karen’s picture. An integral part of our administrative team, she helps keep the wheels turning smoothly. Everyone should have a Karen. (She’s free for dinner… and she keeps a helmet in her car… Simper Fi).

Tara Williams

Tara (she would be the bigger of the two) is our Receptionist/Administrative Assitant.  She has been with Michael's Harley-Davisdson for 4 years and shows no signs of slowing down.  If Tara doesn't know the answer, she knows where to find it.   Tara is also the Membership Officer for our local HOG chapter.
